Linux today is much more than only the kernel and the glibc, which are provided by the POSIX environment: "big" Linux distributions provide numerous daemons and services, which support many basic application functionalities. Apart from that, modern applications are built on "embedded IT" principles, that is they rely as much as possible on IT concepts and technologies (e.g. middlewares and frameworks), which allows the developers to concentrate exclusively on their applications.
The OSELAS.BSP( ) Standard Edition includes, apart from boot loader, kernel and glibc, numerous common Linux system libraries such as glib and gconf. Communication between applications is considerably facilitated by the use of the "lightweight middleware" D-Bus.
For automation tasks there's a framework for the handling of process data. Network management is facilitated by IP auto-config technologies, so that a user can access the system for instance from a Windows PC by means of a USB or RJ45 network cable. Apart from IPv4 IPv6 is also provided.
